Presentation of the Institut Mobilités en Transition (IMT)
The Institut Mobilités en Transition is a think tank dedicated to the transition of the mobility and transport sectors in France and Europe, created by Iddri and the European Climate Foundation. As both a platform for dialogue and analysis and recommendations production, the IMT aims to provide objective insights into environmental, social, industrial, and political issues to facilitate the operational implementation of the transition. Its work is based on:
- A robust database,
- A structured multi-stakeholder dialogue platform bringing together actors from diverse backgrounds (industry, academia, civil society),
- Collaborative efforts to synergize national, European, and international issues.
The analyses and recommendations produced are shared with French public decision-makers and European institutions to enhance their understanding of challenges and support the transition.
Job Description
IMT is structured around two units:
- A development unit, responsible for representing IMT to stakeholders, promoting its analyses and recommendations, and developing thematic and/or financial partnerships and collaborations.
- An expertise unit, comprising researchers and analysts who lead thematic work programs on a variety of topics: vehicle taxation and social contracts, potential development of high-frequency coaches, recycling of critical materials, decarbonization of steel, social and industrial challenges of the sector, decarbonization of heavy vehicles, energy mix in transport, etc. These programs rely on databases, hearings, field experiences, and expertise.
Reporting to the Director, the Head of the Expertise Unit will:
- Coordinate and monitor all work programs conducted by the unit members.
- Lead specific projects as needed, such as:
- Utilizing a database for monthly market tracking of vehicle sales to monitor the CAFE trajectory of each European manufacturer to support the 2025 targets and prepare for the 2026 review clause.
- Greening fleets at French and European levels, implementing tools for environmental and social performance (e.g., social leasing, eco-scoring).
- Contributing to the drafting of European texts and defining the Clean Industrial Deal.
- Serve as the technical reference for analyses and recommendations.
- Contribute to the drafting and reviewing of all publications.
- Present the work publicly and to stakeholders and policymakers.
Candidate Profile
- Advanced degree (Master’s level or equivalent) in engineering, university, or similar, with at least 5 years of experience in sectors related to IMT's topics.
- Knowledge and expertise in environmental issues linked to the transport sector and related political challenges at the French and European levels.
- Flexibility and organization to manage increasing amounts of information with specific and variable exploitation constraints.
- Analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and formalize ideas in writing and verbally.
- Rigor and autonomy.
- Teamwork skills.
- Fluent in French
Contract Details
- 12-month Fixed-Term Contract.
- Managerial contract, 37.5 hours per week, with 10 RTT days, 5 weeks of annual leave, plus public holidays, supplemental health insurance, 55% coverage of transportation costs, and 60% coverage of meal vouchers (€9.70 per working day).
- Salary based on profile and experience.
- Position based in Paris (41 rue du Four, 75006), with 2 to 3 days of remote work per week possible.
